IdentityIQ Review

IdentityIQ’s mission is to provide peace of mind to people at different stages of their financial lifecycle and to inform, protect, alert and assist customers in the event of identity theft or credit report issues. They educate, offer product combinations in different price ranges, provide unlimited online service, and work with customers to help fix identity and credit problems.

What We Like Identity IQ positives

We found that the business has a greater longevity (6 years) than several of the other identity theft protection agencies and continues to make add-ons in an attempt to keep up with some of the larger players in the industry like LifeLock.

We like that they offer 4 different protection plans to potential subscribers based on their needs:

  • Identity IQ Protect Plan: $6.99
  • Identity IQ Protect Plus Plan: $15.99
  • Identity IQ Protect Pro: $19.99
  • Identity IQ Protect Max: $29.99

All plans offer credit bureau daily credit monitoring alerts, opt-out services, dispute assistance, ID theft insurance underwritten by AIG ($25,000 for Protect and Protect Plus), credit score tracker, an ID fraud restoration specialist, and fraud alert assistance.

The 2 higher priced plans offer monthly and quarterly credit report and scores, $1,000,000 ID theft insurance, checking account reports, a lost wallet form and assistance, and a credit score simulator.

We really love the opt-out IQ feature that removes subscribers from consumer databases, restricts telemarketers from calling, and prohibits direct mail and unsolicited credit card offers to be sent; which are big risks in the field of identity theft.

They also have a B rating with the Better Business Bureau and are accredited as well, so that’s always a great sign.

What We Don’t Like Identity IQ negatives

In a competitive market, IdentityIQ isn’t blazing any trails in the identity theft protection arena. They offer basic monitoring services that alert an individual if something doesn’t look right on their credit report, but they aren’t proactive to avoid suspicious activity. A more sophisticated technology will provide safeguards to minimize risk of ID theft targeting. While the credit report monitoring as identity protection route is a good place to start, it’s not a comprehensive strategy for personal protection.

In addition, the 7-day free trial is somewhat ambiguous. In an attempt to preauthorize the monthly fee before receiving the free trial, IdentityIQ will run the card you provide. If it happens to be a debit card, the funds will become unavailable to the potential subscriber during the free trial and then it could take up to a week to have the money returned to the account if cancelled.

The Bottom Line

If you’re looking for the most basic protection, their Identity IQ Protect Plan might be a good option for you. But if you’re looking to invest in the safety of your personal information, their higher priced packages don’t compare to some of the bigger players.

How It Works

How IdentityIQ Works

IdentityIQ identity protection services include a three-layered approach — Know, Watch, Plan.

Know

IdentityIQ has a team of experts that help subscribers understand the things that impact credit and identity. They provide access to several data sources and assist in education of how that data may affect a person.

For $15.99, subscribers will get a monthly credit report and score from one credit bureau (Experian). For $29.99/month, they will provide a quarterly credit report from the three credit agencies and monitor that report.

Watch

On a daily basis, we get asked for personal information — when we apply for credit, register for an event or website, fill out paperwork at appointments, and enroll in classes. So what happens to that information we have provided? Where does it go? Who sees it? And who has access to the sensitive information that could easily be pieced together to steal your identity?

Upon understanding of how data is dispersed, tracked and viewed, IdentityIQ harnesses the power of their resources to inform, protect, alert and assist subscribers in the event of credit report problems or identity theft. IdentityIQ provides credit monitoring services for purchase protection and identity protection.

Daily credit report monitoring and alerts are available on all plans, while checking account for abnormal activity and alerts reports are offered for upgraded plans.

Plan

The features and services offered by IdentityIQ help subscribers plan for the future and offer financial peace of mind.

IdentityIQ provides a Lost Wallet Form in order to list the contents of your wallet when necessary. AIG-issued theft insurance covers $25,000 for the Protect and Protect Plus plans and $1,000,000 coverage for the Protect Pro and Protect Max plans. This insurance covers losses incurred due to identity theft including lost wages, losses due to unauthorized electronic funds transfers, and fees and legal expenses. They offer a Fraud Restoration Specialist to help all subscribers in any time of need.

Plan ahead with IdentityIQ’s credit score simulator and other tools.

The $1 sounds good but “DON’T FALL FOR THE FREE LUNCH” There is always a string attached…. I signed up with company in around end of August for the $1 and checked it out , when you call to cancel or pause in which I WAS going to resign up early 2020 , but instead when you call to cancel they give you a additional unmotivated sales script. After you say no to that, then they get a bit iggy and when you ask for a refund you are told you will be BLACKLISTED and not able to use the service again. This is basically a “TIME SHARE SALES PITCH mixed with Car Dealership sales tactic’s with no real care about your credit or business. smh Thanks a lot for…. nothing

Very upset with this company called and canceled in July I was charged again in July and I’ve canceled prior to again I called my credit card company had them blocked had the card changed. And identity IQ went to master charge and got my credit card information and charge me again after I canceled after I blocked him after I change my card so to me but they did was illegal very bored poor customer service. When I called the company I was told by the sales person that I never called but yet I have four witnesses that sit right here and said I did call.So basically she kept calling me a liar. Had to dispute the charges on my credit card again. Then I had somebody named Eric call and I tried calling him back and I was told that there is no such person there. Very shady

I’ve had Identity IQ for several years now and have never encounter a problem with my reports. The website is user friendly, it splits the information in tabs for better understanding of what it is that we are looking for and it tells you how many days left you have until your next refresh date. This is one site I would recommend without thinking twice.

I like the website, easy to use and I get my scores and reports updated each month. They seem legitimate to me. I called customer service once and they helped me dispute an item on my report. No complaints.
